Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
